Industrial Plumbing

Recently we hooked up  a beautiful $100,000 machine at Tampo Print in Vero Beach. This machine is used for ”  etching metal for Stamping (also known as pressing) . It involves the  process of placing flat sheet metal in either blank or coil form into a stamping press where a tool and die surface forms the metal into a net shape. Stamping includes a variety of sheet-metal forming manufacturing processes, such as punching using a machine press or stamping press, blanking, embossing, bending,  and coining.[1] stamping at factories.” ( Definition from Wikipedia)

I ran the air lines, three water services, 4″ vent through the rough and three drains.  There are plumbers who would scratch their head at this job, but not us, this was easy stuff for us.

We can do anything you need and  the more complex  it is the more we like it!!  We LOVE a challenge!

Tampo Print in Vero Beach is a great company with an awesome staff we enjoyed working with them. American made!!

Ways to Save Energy and Water

These days many of us, plumbers included, are looking for ways to save on energy and water bills. Try as you might, it will be difficult to manage when most people don’t know that their water heater takes up %17  of their home’s energy. That is more than all of your other appliances combined. Today, IRC Plumbing is offering these tips and tricks we found  to lower the energy and water consumption of your water heater.Lucien Rizio - IRC Plumbing Vero Beach Water Heater Repair

Text is from Daily , Home & Garden:

“Modify the temperature

Modifying the temperature on your hot water heater is quick and easy to do. According to the Department of Energy setting your hot water heater at 120 or lower can help you save more than $60 a year on your utility bill. You can also turn off your water heater if you are away on vacation to conserve energy.

Add Insulation

Most new hot water heaters are insulated. If you have an older water heater, consider adding an insulation blanket to help reduce heat loss. If your tank feels warm to the touch, this could be an easy and cost effective addition.

Check for leaks

Do a quick check of your sinks, showers, toilets and the hoses outside. Make sure your washers and gaskets are tight. The most common cause of a leaking toilet is often the inexpensive, rubber flapper. Check for wear and replace if needed. Remember plumbers have professional grade products that often last longer than store bought parts.

Consider upgrades

Consider water saving and energy efficient upgrades. Many new faucets, shower heads and toilets are low flow or have water conservation features. These are easy to upgrade on your own or with the help of a professional plumber. There are also new energy efficient options for water heaters.

For more information on ways to save water and energy with your plumbing, go toenergy.gov/articles/askenergysaver-home-water-heating.”

The only exception to these hints is this. Here in Florida, it may be better to leave the water at 125 degrees. We are happy to meet with you and check out your water heater and offer you options.

Construction Is Booming

Plumber, Sebastian, Plumber Vero, Plumber Melbourne

Here in Brevard & Indian River Counties, all of the General Contractors we work with are busy. They haven’t seen this kind of activity in more than six years and it is so welcome. Throughout the past few years, the talking heads have been saying there is not enough housing to meet the demands of millenials who are finally getting jobs and leaving the nest and this construction boom is proof!

In Florida it is also a case of the retiring baby boomers moving here from other parts of the country. The prices are still much more reasonable than in some other parts of the U.S. and people are looking to lower the cost of living so they can more readily enjoy their retirement.

At IRC Plumbing, we work with contractors in both Brevard County and Indian River County. It is the best part of our job to be in on a home’s plumbing from the very beginning. To help design and to properly install plumbing and fixtures that will work properly for years to come.

If you hear of anyone who is planning to build their own home, or a new office, tell them about IRC Plumbing!

BEFORE You Start Construction!

IRC Plumbing for Melbourne, Sebastian, Vero Beach

When people make the decision to build a custom home, often the first thing they do is consult an architect and an interior designer. They lay out their specifications for their dream home, a large kitchen, a spa like bath, and big screened in porch, and think they are well on their way. Those plans go through the normal process of engineering and permits, then on to the builder and off they go.

What they sometimes forget to do is call in their plumber.  BEFORE the plans are finalized ! A plumber can save time, money and frustration by making certain that all of the plumbing for the home is up to the most current code standards, that placement of bathrooms, kitchen sinks, is done so that everything will be working properly when all is said and done.

We have seen, and reworked, bathrooms which were built with the wrong type of grading, where pipe runs were not optimal, and changing these types of things after the fact can be very costly. At IRC Plumbing we have been called into remedy situations where the homes are not properly plumbed for the types of fixtures the owner and designer have picked out.

Certain types of faucets require different valves or valve lengths than others, and if you choose one of these fixtures AFTER all of the plumbing has been set, it may require tearing out portions of a wall to redo those valves.

When installing a shower, it always seems logical to place the controls for the shower head directly in line with the shower head itself.  Yet, how many of us get hit with a spray of cold water every morning when we turn on the shower?

These are all little things that a plumber can help with before everything is set in stone, so to speak. Before you build your dream home, call Lucien and he will sit down with you and your designer or architect and make certain the right materials and designs are in place.

Commercial Plumbing Jobs

At IRC plumbing, we are well qualified to maintain and install both residential and commercial plumbing project.

Leaky Facts

Leaks may simply seem bothersome, but they are also costly and they can cause a great deal of damage over time. In case you haven’t noticed, the world is beginning to run a little low on potable water, and that makes the US EPA a bit concerned. They posted a list of facts concerning leaks on their website, and today I am sharing a portion of those facts and hints with you:

“Faucets and Showerheads:

  • A leaky faucet that drips at the rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons per year. That’s the amount of water needed to take more than 180 showers!
  • Leaky faucets can be fixed by checking faucet washers and gaskets for wear and replacing them if necessary. If you are replacing a faucet, look for the WaterSense label.
  • A showerhead leaking at 10 drips per minute wastes more than 500 gallons per year. That’s the amount of water it takes to wash 60 loads of dishes in your dishwasher.
  • Most leaky showerheads can be fixed by ensuring a tight connection using pipe tape and a wrench. If you are replacing a showerhead, look for one that has earned the WaterSense label.

Toilets:

  • If your toilet is leaking, the cause is often an old, faulty toilet flapper. Over time, this inexpensive rubber part decays, or minerals build up on it. It’s usually best to replace the whole rubber flapper—a relatively easy, inexpensive do-it-yourself project that pays for itself in no time.
  • If you do need to replace the entire toilet, look for a WaterSense labeled model. If the average family replaces its older, inefficient toilets with new WaterSense labeled ones, it could save 13,000 gallons per year. Retrofitting the house could save the family nearly $2,400 in water and waste water bills over the lifetime of the toilets.”

If you have a leak, no matter how small, call us. Once it gets bigger, the cost and time to repair the leak and any damage it has caused gets significantly larger!!

Leak Detection

leak detection IRC plumbing, Sebastian Florida

We talked about having an undetected water leak in your home, and how we can find it quickly using our leak detection device, but what can you do yourself to detect a leak?

  1. If you suspect a leak, the first thing to do is shut off all your faucets, showers, the water valve leading to your washer, and your toilets and check to see if your meter continues to run.
  2.  If you have a well on your property, check to see if it is running constantly.
  3. If you don’t have water gushing into your house, send someone outside to where your meter is located. Flush the toilets one at a time, wait until the tank fills back up, then check to see if the meter is still running.
  4. If water is pouring out, locate the main water shut off for your home and shut that off and call us.

Because water doesn’t always puddle at the source of a leak, if your leak is not one you can find quickly using any of the above methods, IRC plumbing has Leak Detection Equipment which takes the guess work out of finding leaks.

We have been in the plumbing business here in Indian River County for enough years that we can tell where some of the more common sources of leaks will be, but sometimes leaks are sneaky and they occur in less obvious areas. The most difficult leaks to pinpoint can be leaks in your slab. That is why we have made the investment in Leak Detector.

Leak detectors use sound to detect where a leak is coming from. It is actually more complex than that, but you don’t need the details, you just need to know that we know how to read the information that comes from our Leak Detection Equipment in order to diagnose and ultimately repair whatever leaks are causing you problems.

Outdoor Shower Installation

As so often happens in the plumbing business, we got a last minute call from  friends at LaPorte Farms. Is just so happened they were hosting an out of state 4H group and needed an outside shower for them.  They gave us very short notice, but Lucien put aside his Father’s Day celebration and got it done.

We always aim to please, if you have plumbing needs just call us @ 772/696/3747

Leak Detection

Vero Beach Plumber, leak detection equipment

People think the first sign of a leak somewhere in your home is water. That is true sometimes, and other times it is your water bill. If you usually pay $60 per month for water, and this month the bill is $200, then you have a leak!

We had one customer whose water bill spiked like this, with none of the usual puddles appearing around their home. So where was the leak? In this particular instance it was a toilet in their bathroom. It wasn’t making any noise because it was dripping ever so slightly, but it was constant and it caused their water meter to keep running. Because there weren’t any visible signs of a leak, that is the first place we checked. It was a simple and relatively inexpensive leak to fix, and the next month their water bill was back to normal, but it was a good thing they had us check it out or they would have continued to have overly high water bills.

Slab leaks are another one that can be difficult to detect. If you have a slow leak from a pinhole in a pipe, back behind a piece of furniture, they can be difficult to detect, and as the water leaks it can take a pinhole in a pipe and overtime the hole will get bigger, ultimately causing a much larger problem.

If you water bill seems to be rising each month, and you haven’t had extra company or aren’t doing more laundry, it is a good idea to give us a call, and Lucien can use our leak detection equipment to track down that leak for you.
